Default Gateway Myth

This is a controversial question with government try to make us think that the use of Marijuana is lead us tu use more dangerous drugs.

Quote:
[Marijuana] does not appear to be a gateway drug to the extent that it is the cause, or even .. the most significant predictor of serious drug abuse; that is, care must be taken not to be attribute cause to this association
- Institute of Medicine, 1999

Government say that people who use Marijuana are more likely to try more dangerous durgs, indeed that makes Marijuana a Gateway Drug, but that is what some Government Official what people to believe. The truth is that prohibition is the biggest cause for Marijuana users to try more dangerous drugs, the prohibition forces the users to enter in the same illegal market that give them access to potencialy deathly substances like Cocaine.

i have read that cigarettes are the #1 gateway drug. nicotine especially in young people changes the brain chemistry not to mention being very addictive

This was repeating a fact already long known. The government already long knew that "all" drug addicts are smokers, say Commissioner of Narcotics Harry J. Anslinger and U.S. Attorney William F. Tompkins, The Traffic in Narcotics (New York: Funk & Wagnalls, 1953), p 196.

mj as a gateway drug has been proven not true.

also in 1972 the schaffer comission ( appointed by nixon ) reccomended mj be decriminilized. needless to say tricky dick ignored it.

I had a drug education program in school that told me and millions of other kids that weed is really bad, alcohol is bad until you're older, but weed is just as bad as the rest of the illegal drugs.

Armed with that knowledge, I could see smoking a joint then getting drunk and thinking I might as well do some heroine because the weed is supposed to be worse than the alcohol.

Luckily for me I don't believe anything a cop tells me in school.

Bullshit

If you buy from a dealer who sells other drugs, you may get curious about them- especially after discovering how many lies were told about cannabis. If you buy in a clean, well run dispensary, you don't get tempted.
