View Full Version : Germinate to harvest in two months, possible ?

I just realised Christmas will be knocking on the door in two months, I seem
to have lost a month somewhere in 2003.

I need to get my current crop harvested by then, is it possible ? I've read
in a few places where growers claim they can go from germination to harvest
in two months, how ???

I'm growing from seeds, Jack Flash, and they've just sprouted under a
flourescent light, they're about three inches tall now. I'm growing in soil,
I've got supplies of plant food and two lights at my disposal, a 400w Son-T
and a 400w Grolux, two circulating fans, one extractor fan and reams of
mylar. I don't have the cash to add any more hardware or switch to hydro.

This'll be my third crop and from past experience it normally takes these
gals about 4 months to mature.

PS: Of the two lights I've got is either more suited to veg or flowering ?

How long does your flowering cycle take under normal conditions.Plants
use light to fuel growth. If they receive less light they will grow
less. Changing the light/dark light cycle to 10/14 from 12/12 reduces
the amount of light the plants receive by 1/6, or 16%. Cutting the
light cycle while flowering results in less total growth, because the
plant produces less material used for tissue building. Another effect
of cutting the light cycle is to hasten the ripening of the plant. By
reducing the light cycle during the growth part of flowering, the
growth time is reduced. However this is not a productive trade-off.
Not only is the total time under light reduced, so is the percentage
of time with light. The yield of the lower light-cycle bud will be
more than proportionately lower than normal. However, during the last
10 to 15 days of flowering the bud has little growth. Instead it
transforms as the stigmas dry, the ovary behind them swells and the
glands fill with THC. Reducing the light period during this time will
hasten ripening without significantly reducing yield, by giving the
plant a clear signal that the time has come. There are occasions when
it may be more important to speed up ripening than to maximize
production. Under these circumstances, a 10-hour light/14-hour dark
cycle would indeed be better.

Normally a little over two months after a six week grow period.

I just wanna make sure I understand this.

I'll I veg them for 2-3 weeks with 24/0, or is 18/6 better for such a short
veg period ?

Then flower them with a 12/12 cycle for until the 6th week switching to a
10/14 cycle, is that what you're suggesting ?

24/0 will allow more growth in veg

week 5 turn back 30 mins. every other day also if you can reduce temp.
to 50 to 60 deg. f. will also stimulate faster ripening.

I'm sorry i don't really know the brands.( i only use basic Hps and
Mh)
Now are we talking bout two bulbs and one ballast or two separate
ballast and bulbs? I have read some where that new(grow) bulbs for say
a High pressure sodium will have a duel filament that will produce an
amount oh white/blue light to add in veg.

Mh white/blue for veg.

Hps orange/red for bud.

both will work but the above is what's recommended

Either bulb is fine. Because you're starting late, I'd recommend
using whichever one is higher wattage.
