i last grew marijuana about 13 years ago around 1990,before the feds
clamped down on the original seed banks and grow stores.
i was probably one of the last customers to get northern lights #1
seeds from Nevil's The Seed Bank in holland which had the small color
booklet with the glossy pictures of its strains which included
nl#1,skunk #1,nl5 x haze,etc.1990 was also the year Nevil was wanted
by the usa and fled to australia and disappeared and The Seed Bank was
closed down.
i bred some of the plants and saved about 2 cups of seeds and kept
them in the refrigerator for over a decade .i just recently started
growing again and used the seeds and was surprised that over 90% of
the seeds germinated and grew profusely and the resulting buds were
just as potent and sticky as the originals.
was i just lucky the seeds stayed viable so long?also as it is
northern lights #1 which i find is something i don't see in today's
seed banks,is it a valuable type breed that can be valuable for
breeding, etc.,and should i continue to breed and perpetuate it?are
today's strains better than the nl#1's?
