I was just wondering how much everyone smokes? I smoke around 2-6 times daily, about a quarter ounce / two weeks. The only thing I ever worry about when dealing with weed, much moreso than being busted, is how much smoking hurts my lungs and airways. I smoke out of my two-foot gravity bong 95% of the time because of the filtration; the smoke is much cleaner, but look at the inside of any pipe.. It's stained and coated with resin from smoke passing through. I'm worried that my air passages are coated the same way.. if so, that's a LOT of gunk that I can't get rid of. I've learned through reading that no serious long term health effects can be found from smoking marijuana alone, but you can't ignore the damage tar causes to your air passages. I like sports and athletics, and don't want to have to quit one day because I can't breathe properly. Marijuana is one of the greatest substances on the planet, but is it worth the longterm lung damage?
What does everyone think?

If I'm correct gravity bongs don't filter the smoke like a regular bong? Maybe you could get a regular bong and not have to worry about it... not sure though.

Gravity bongs as in bongs that contain water? Water filtration is the best kind that I know of offered to a smoker..

A vaporizer is the best method to smoke, ie its not really smoking. A small double bubbler is 2nd best. A bong lets the air go stale and has HUGE bubbles of smoke that do not get filtered in the water. A gravity bong is horrible on your lungs.

yea gravity bongs dont filter anything cuz the smoke sits on top of the water, not going through it...
if thats all u smoke and u play sports, i wouldnt be concerned at all..even though all pipes look like that, the human body is an incredible thing..as long as ur doing aerobic stuff ull be fine..i used to smoke almost an ounce a week in high school and was honorable mention all state in baseball which is all running..unless ur hacking up black shit then i wouldnt worry

This is pretty confusing, so I'll explain myself a little better. I have a bong that looks like this, but larger:

This type of bong is considered a water bong, not a gravity bong, correct? Gravity bongs are made with a cut-off two lieter bottle and a bucket of water, yes? Whatever the case, my bong filters the smoke through the water in the bottom. Bubblers work the same way, the filtration concept is identical, so how are water bongs worse for the lungs than bubblers?

if ou are worried about your lungs then you shouldn't be smoking in my opinion, there are going to be lung effects no mattere what filtered or not.

As for long term effects?
I have been smoking at least 1 oz a week for 36 years and am still alive. I do have some memory loss issues but not sure if they are from smoking weed or one of the three motorcycle accidents I have had two of which I had severe head injuries.

I love marijuana and I want to smoke it every day until I die, I just don't want to devestate my lungs beyond repair in the process. So I want to know the least-harmful method of smoking so that I'll stand the best chance of staying healthy, that's all.

nothing is free..u gotta take the good with the bad...but id say a vaporizer is probly the best then a bong/bubbler..i think they said a bong is worse maybe cuz ur taking much bigger hits with a bong..i dont really know, just thinking out loud

Yeah, it makes sense.. but when you think about it, large bongs have long chambers that cool the smoke much moreso than a bubbler or anything with a shorter chamber. So I'd guess they're about equal in the end.
"nothing is free..u gotta take the good with the bad" True that, I can't think of one thing that's 100% benign with no downfalls whatsoever in this life..
