I would first recommend if this is your first grow..not growing purple haze because it is mostly a "sativa" strain and takes about 40% longer than other strains do and secondly it grows really really tall. You will be like jack and the bean stock only you'll end up with mostly stock and not buds because there won't be enough light to illuminate the entire plant. Growing indoors you should look for a short compact plant with a fast growing cycle..you can't go wrong with northern lights or any other indica strain. Once you have about two grow cycles done then you could always check about growing purple haze again.

For lights you could get by with fluorescent shop lights 40 watts x 2 sold at home depot or if you have the money buy some HPS lights on eBay around $100-200. Do a search HPS lights you'll see a bunch of them! :D HPS are what professional use, however they use more heat / electricity and cost more upfront.. Hope this sheds a little light.

Hi, I just joined the Forum today. Here's the best growing guide I have found. " HYDROPONICS BASICS" by George Van Patten. It tells you EVERYTHING you need to know to get you started on your way to being independent from buying. I wish I had this book before I started in-door growing.

I would advise Jorge Cervantes Indoor growers bible..Also you cant go wrong with any of Ed Rosenthal's grow guides..I like "Sun System" lights made by Sunlight Supply they come with two different bulb types,Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium bud you could get by with fluorescent if you would rather save money,But I advise Metal halide for the Vegative growth stage and HPS for flowering.

Yup... HPS is the way to go. If I were you I would avoid the flourescent shop lights as they will certainly cause you problems in the future such as week stems, over stretching and all of that. You can buy compact flourescent lights for not much more money and the don't require a ballast to run them. They produce virtually no or very little heat and are very economical.

About the fish tank... I would not advise growing in a fish tank if a) you plan on growing more than 1 plant and b) because fish tanks have a glass perimeter. Your roots need to be completely blocked from any light. Just go with the 1-2 gallon growing containers. You will be much happier.

I personally use miracle grow soil and will probably never use anything but miracle grow. I have been growing 15 years with it and have never had a "bum" crop. You will hear all kinds of bad things about the fertilizer they put in their soil and all of that but I can tell you personally that it works great! I love the stuff and will always grow with it. Scotts is also a very desireable soil and will also work great!

My advice would be to start with a strain which is easy to grow, easy to clone, and will produce nice yields within an acceptable time period. You may also want to consider cost...You can get great seeds from Joey Weed or Nirvana for half of what 'the big guys' are charging. Breedbay is a great place
for good deals.

All haze strains take a long time to flower, are not famous for their heavy yields, and are very finicky in general.

I would plant 10 at a time and hope for a few good females. After you have your ladies select a pheno which exhibits the traits that you desire in a mother plant and finished product. Take cuttings from all of your females for the first run and then after you have seen how they finish you may want to only keep one of them as a mother plant because more often than not there will only be one plant out of 10 that would make an acceptable mother.

Should be no sweat. The key thing with small space is having air cooled lights, possible 'cool tubes', and ample ventilation.

You will need to have some decent ventilation. If there are no noise restrictions a dayton blower can move a lot of air and does not coat very much. I would run two 400/430 hps lights. Get switchable ballasts if they make them in 400 (im not certain, I only run 1k lamps)

Thinking about using a fish tank 30 gallon
Will the fishtank be your res??

which lights should i get?
Two 400 watt hps with cool tube reflectors.

I'd say foxfarm ocean forest use 1/3 soil, 1/3 perilite, 1/3 vermiculite.

I wanted to know
what other equipment should i get ? meter , books anything
Purchase electronic PH and TDS meters. Also, be aware of what scale your tds/ec meter is.

i will start a journal when i get them
Looking forward to reading it man. Grow safe.:)

everything seems good advice, the only id suggest is going with an organic fertilizer..fox farm ocean forest seems like a fav by long timers..its a little more expensive but miracle grow and scots have synthetic fertilizers and u can def taste the difference..going cheap for ur first grow just to see if u can get a plant isnt a bad way to go though, ill be watching

Hi,

First of all their are many seedbreeders but my personal favor goes out to The Greenhouse Company.

And you can grow under simple lamps but the blooming fase is nessacary to use HPS lamps like a 400w or better a 600w.

Good luck anyway with your growing.
