Cannabis Spiritual use

Cannabis has a long history of spiritual use, especially in India, where it has been used by wandering spiritual sadhus for centuries. The most famous religious group to use cannabis in a spiritual context is the Rastafari movement, though it is by no means the only group (e.g. Church of the Universe).

Some historians and etymologists have claimed that cannabis was used by ancient Jews, early Christians, and of early Muslims of the Sufi order.
Cannabis, usually in the form of hashish, was an important yet frowned-upon part of Arab society during various periods of history. Hashish was said to have been used by the Hashshashin, a warrior sect.

Many individuals also consider their use of cannabis to be spiritual regardless of organized religion though it is banned in many parts of the world, and in some cases because it is banned (cf. Bob Marley, "the more man smoke herb, the more Babylon fall").

It is also believed that marijuana was used to bring back the dead to some early religions. There would be an event where everyone would get together and smoke and say some holy words. In doing so it was believed to raise the dead.

It certainly lifts the spirit. MJ is supposed to make a user feel cool and groovy and alcohol makes a man violent. Yet alcohol is legal to quaff and MJ is illegal.

I feel you on that Kush. Me myself I am on a spiritual path of enlightment and MJ has defintely been of great use to me. Around 2006 I was really getting into finding a religion that i could connect with. I was rasised bapist. I want though the whole goiing to church evey sunday to thank god that he didnt give me more than I could handle and crying. If didnt feel right. And it really felt weird cuz you MJ is frown upon in bapist church. So I came upon books on Tao Te Ching. Started reading on those and it made sense to me. I read Eckhart Tolle books Power of now and A New Earth and those books really opened me up. I had started questioning my MJ smoke back in 2007. Sinces I was on the spiritual thing. Part of me was sawing its wrong and the other part was say it good. So I did my rescrech and I am still finding things out about MJ back in the day. How other religion do respect and use MJ for that spiritual. Now I thank the universe for my blessing w/ happyness and know that i am connected and we all are connected so we need to stop war and roll alot of joints, blunts and bongs and set down and talk this thing out. I feel as though they know something about MJ that is so great that is would risk changing the world for them (Bush and em and all the ones who do like :) it). Because of MJ I meditate. Because of MJ i look at things differently. MJ makes you think, it makes you question, and it opens you up, it gets you social and gets you feeling good. I just watch a video called you can heal you life and it about thinking postive about your life. I think that is an issue also if we change our mind set and stop liking at things as bad and see thatgood in things it would be ok. It use to make me mad that they put this plant in the same cat. as coke, heroine and crack. I mean you can get crack head and a pot head and compare the two. The ads for living under the influcance of weed. Those ads are crazy. I like to smoke weed. You are not going to go out and pull a doke;s tail so it can hit you back beciz of weed. Maybe on coke or herione (dont know dont want to know). I wrote a book here. Like I said earlier I am on a spiritual path and weed has help on it and I feel that with weed this world can be a better place though opening that minds of poeple and us stoping the fighting. We just pass the peace pipe. :) :) :)

Thats true. I was pretty shy before I smoked pot. It was really diffucult to talk to new people. Then I had started smoking and I noticed how when I was high I could pretty much talk to anyone. Which made me realize that I could do the same when sober. Now I have no problem talking to new people or having a conversation with someone I have hardly ever talked to before.

Hahaha, The only thing that connects us all is the internet Bro. Puffing changes the way you think, and basically alters your natural course of thought, It makes you stupid, and eventually slows down your brain activity. some people see it as spiritual, but i think that true spiritualism shouldn't have to be sparked by putting a foreign substance in your body. spiritualism should come from free thought and freewill. Of course I'm not bad mouthing weed, if i were than why would i be on this board. But as a regular user, this is how i feel.

I read this past summer that they found pot in an ancient grave site..I think it was in an Aztec grave in south america....it was dry in good condition..the dead and the weed..

wonder if they smoked it..would you?..haha

anyways, weed has been here since the beginning of time..as a natural medicine for many different things..be is of the spiritual nature , healing , medicinal..enlightenment..to connect with the Creator, Goddess, God, Alah, Vishnu, Buddah..whatever..

but yet, it's a bad thing.

I wouldn't, lol. I would get all paranoid that I'm smoking some dead guy's stash. Plus, I'd feel bad because I'd feel like I was burning an important piece of history... heh. :p

I didn't say it "has" to be used in spiritual practices. I am not high when I do circle work for example, but sometimes when I meditate I am high. It seems to help me focus more, to still my thoughts.
mantras help do that too, but..anyways..
